Storytellers Creative Arts is making a difference through its outreach programs.
Storytellers Creative Arts (SCA) is a faith-based non-profit serving Southwest Florida with a singular focus: Healing and transforming lives through the arts. It does so by creating healing and nurturing arts outreach groups for artists, who reach out through SCA’s arts programs and partnerships with local community organizations to teach, mentor and heal their served communities.
Says SCA founder and president Bill Barnett.
"As artists seeking to impact our world, we inspire and equip artists to transform and heal the broken lives around us. And we're making headway. SCA and our 100-plus volunteers have touched the lives of more than 4,000 in the recovery and disadvantaged communities in Southwest Florida."
SCA partners with leading organizations in SW Florida, including: David Lawrence Centers, New Horizons, Youth Haven, Amigos Family Center and others.
Some of SCA’s unique outreach programs include:
Arts for Recovery, for Collier County’s recovering adults, meets weekly for worship and personal arts expression.
Get Creative Day features arts classes, worship, lunch and activities with a biblical theme, in partnership with the Amigos Center in Immokalee, serving impoverished Haitian and Hispanic families. Many participating children have lost parents to addiction or are in foster care.
Summer Arts Camp for middle school and high school students.
In addition to its outreach programs. Storytellers hosts events and networking opportunities for artists:
Creatives Connect develops community and networking opportunities for creatives, and introduces SCA programs and volunteer opportunities
Pray for the Arts is a monthly gathering of artists from around the country who gather to pray for the arts and its potential to impact and change the culture.
